Angie and Tony, two of the sweetest couples got engaged by a surprise proposal on the Westerly Town Beach announced by a plane banner. This Italian family is romantic, playful and fun! This was totally nerve wracking and exhilarating at the same time. I didn’t want to screw it up. How could I be on the beach, in the winter without being seen with my long zoom lens. O bless him, a lone fisherman.  I will go to him. I have no idea how Tony got Angie down to the beach. All I know is I had to get there and be ready because as soon as the plane(noisy I might add) started down the beach I needed to ready to turnaround for the knee. So I  hit up a surfcaster with some late season striper talk until I saw the plane in the distance. Then as soon as it became visible I started sprinting toward them. Angie was so surprised by the whole thing. Tears and laughter lasted for quite some time. Family stood by, some 50+ friends and family and champagne toasts with a soiree at the newly family owned Antonio’s pizzeria in Mystic! Antonio happens to be named for Tony’s grandfather – the perfect place to celebrate!
